‘Disappointing Performance’ (N.Z.PA.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, July 12. The performance of the British freighter aircraft, the Belfast, had been disappainting, the “Daily Express” science writer. Chapman Pincher, reported. “This surprise development ends any hopes that the plane might be sold abroad or ordered in a large jet-engine version for the R.A.F.,” he said. The trouble was the drag of air flow over the huge bulk of the aircraft which mean that its speed and range were reduced. A spokesman for the makers. Short Brothers, said: “We are confident we shall get a certificate of airworthiness this year.”
