Cruelty To Children
Concern at the everincreasing number of cases of cruelty to children was expressed at a recent meeting of the Timaru branch of the National Council of Women. It was decided to ask Dominion headquarters to take the matter up at national level, and to press for an increase in the penalty for the offence. Full support will be given to a remit sponsored by the Catholic Women’s League, that the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) be asked to instruct the police to see that the law prbhiblting the sale of liquor to minors be more strictly enforced.
