Rangi-Ruru Dinner
The Rangi-ruru Old Girls’ Association held its annual dinner at Russley Hotel last evening and was attended by 140 guests from all parts of Canterbury and Marlborough. They were received by the president of the association (Mrs D. B. Smith), the patron (Mrs J. S. Douglas) and the acting-principal of the school, (Miss L. E. Coleman). The organising committee included the following:—Mesdames D. B. Smith, C. W. Ballantyne, N. R. Belcher, J. S. Callaway, T. R. Caldwell, D. B. Dallas, D. E. Dalzell, K. W. Frampton and O. C. Parker, Misses P. Allan, J. Hanna, L. McAllister, K. McKerrow, D. McMillan, A. Oakley and B. Webb; Talk On Japan.—Aspects of life in Japan were described by Mr E. B. E. Taylor former New Zealand Ambassador in Tokyo, at the Canterbury Woman's Club luncheon. The president (Mrs L. P. Bennett) welcomed Mr and Mrs Taylor, members and friends. Items were given by Mrs Mabel Mason and Mrs Hilda Reeve (piano duet). There was a large attendance at the luncheon which was the last for this year.
