Further Gains In Sydney Week

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, July 14. The Sydney market continued strengthening during the week with the share price index rising 4.27 points to 313.56. The daily average turn-over in industrials was higher at 487,000 and mining was much the same at 79,000 to 80,000.

Special sales of 1,515,000 of Pioneer Concrete shares were not included in the average daily turn-over figures. Stocks which traded most actively, excluding Pioneer Concrete, were Wibroc. R. NStatham, Motels of Australia, Coal and -Allied Industries, and/Amalgamated Chemicals. There were rises in all sections during the week, the greatest being in transport atid communication, electrical sales and manufacture, automotive industries and fuel, light and; power. The rises in banks and insurance, food, drink, tobacco and chemicals, paper, glass and others were small. Premium Issue Farley and Lewers have announced that the recent issue of 270,000 shares was made to Darling Nominees at a premium of 10s a share and the directors consider the 15s offer by Pioneer Concrete as “quite inadequate.” However, Pioneer Concrete have requested a list of Farley and Lewers shareholders to enable them to consider proceeding with the offer. The latest in Marcus Clarke’s moves towards “putting its house in order” is the announcement that the Railway square will close at the end of this month. Principal Movements Principal movements during the week were: A.P.A., rose 3s to 75s 6d; Wiliam Adams, lost Is to 31s 6d; Associated Securities, gained Is 6d to 17s 6d; Cottees, a rise of Is to 20s 6d; Henry Jones, a rise of 2s 6d to 76s 6d, and Swan Brewery, lost 3s to 20s. In the mining section, rises in selected stocks were predominant with Broken Hill South gaining Is 6d to 22s 6d, C.R.A. rising Is 6d to 35s 6d, Mt. Isa rising 6d to 365, New Broken Hill rising 2s 6d to

36s and North Broken Hill a rise of 2s to 395. Bivenshoe remained steady at 445, Benison lost Is M to 545. Tableland dropped Is 6d to 38s 6d and A.O.G. lost 9d to 22s 9d.
