Ferry Looks Like Tunnel

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuttr) NAPLES. A new type of ferry boat for use as a “floating highway” between Naples, in Italy, and Palermo, in Sicily, has been launched from the Castellamere di Stabia Shipyards, near Naples.

Called “The Blue Kangaroo,” the new ship is, in effect, a long tunnel, open at both ends, capable of carrying 24 lorries and 70 passenger airs as well as 700 passengers.

Vehicles will be driven aboard through a large twolane gate on the shore and will drive off the ship through a similar gate in the ferry’s front end.
