‘Small Clubs Better Off’

Press Association) WELLINGTON. “I want to assure all the smaller galloping clubs that they will not suffer, rather they will be better off,” said the president of the New Zealand Racing Conference. Mr G. H. Grigg, yesterday. He had been asked to clarify the revised method of distribution of TAB. orofits announced on Monday. Mr Grigg said positive steps would be taken at the annual general meeting of the Racing Conference on Friday to ensure that this was so He would make a full explanation of the new distribution basis at the meeting. Mr Grigg said that if the proposals of the Racing Con ference members of the Totalisator Agency Board had been agreed to, the position of the smaller trotting clubs also in the regard to the T.A.B. profits would have been guaranteed, but now it was a matter for settlement between the Trotting Conference and its clubs.

Hunt Date Changed

Handicaps for the Christchurch Hunt Club’s meeting to be held at Riccarton on Saturday, July 31, will be declared on Tuesday, July 27. and acceptances taken at 4 p.m. that day. The alteration in the changes of the declaration of the weights and the closing of acceptances has been brought about by the fact that the South Canterbury Hunt Club will be racing on Monday. July 26.
