Skater Wins After Earlier Fall
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 13. J, Havenaar, of Christchurch, surprised the opposition to win the 10,000 metres on the final day of the New Zealand tong track iceskating championships at Manorburn dam.
Havenaar had crashed heavily in the 1500 metres, suffering skinned knees and a bruised thigh. With his long, smooth action he beat the Canterbury champion, R. Falkingham, by 11 seconds.
