Former All Black Suspended
The former All Black, W. N. Gray, was suspended for one playing Saturday by the management committee of the Buller Rugby Union at its weekly meeting on Monday. He was said to have struck a player when representing Bay of Plenty against Buller on Saturday. Thfc decision will be conveyed to the Bay of Plenty union. The referee (Mr E. T. O’Connor) said he had ordered Gray off the field. The chairman (Mr C. McHerron) said the incident had received much publicity. He had heard it had been reported in South African newspapers. Mr O’Connor said he warned Gray previously for a similar offence after Gray ran about 20 yards to strike an opponent in front of the grandstand. On the second occasion he ran straight at a man and used his fist without provocation.
