37 Years At Massey
"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, July 4. The last member of the foundation staff of Massey Agricultural College (now Massey University of Manawatu) to retire is Dr. J. S. Yeates, agricultural botanist who has become noted as a breeder of rhododendrons and lilies.
He will leave the university on July 11. He was appointed to the staff in 1928. Dr. Yeates was identified with programmes for breeding New Zealand flax for the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research before this appointment He carried on this research for anoaher 10 years until it interfered with his lecturing for another 10 years until it over to the Department of Agriculture.
