WAITAKI SURVEY
Hydrologist To Help
Mr T. J. Chinn, a hydro), gist on the North Canterburx Catchment Board’s staff, will be “lent” to help with Inves tigations in the Mount Cook area to get data on proposed hydro-electric developments in the upper Waitaki basin. The board, at its meeting yesterday, approved a request from the Soil Conservation Council that Mr Chinn's services be made available for three days a month for a year.
The District Commissioner of Works (Mr D. B. Dallas) told the board that the Ministry of Works had a man in the area. When he was working at high altitudes, he had to have a park ranger or someone else with him from the safety angle, and Mr Chinn could no doubt help there, as well as with the technical side.
