Worn By Chance
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 2.
After two years and a half of use the original Golden Kiwi marbles have been replaced. The gold numbering was wearing off a ; number of the 250.000 black marble*. “So ■ we've now got a nice new shiny red set,” an officer of the Internal Affairs Department said today “It was used for the first time in the Kiwi draw on Thursday.”
The old marbles were taken from the lottery barrel last week. The new set was put in last Saturday by departmental officers watched by a policeman. Officials said today the old set had now to be sorted into numerical order. The lettering would be checked and, where obscure, touched up. The full set would then be kept “in reserve.”
