Rowley). The three South Island members returned were Messrs H. J. Hewson, of Kaikoura, C. E. Hoy, of Christchurch, and A. E. Laing, of Christchurch. The unsuccessful candidates were Messrs W. A. Craddock, of Westpart, J. K. Davidson, of Christchurch, L. Duff, of Dunedin, J. T. Hill, of Nelson, C. H. T. Morrison, of Cheviot, W. J. Murray, of Blenheim, and R. A. Paterson, of Dunedin. The North Island members returned were Messrs R. Lewis, of Auckland, and V. C. McPhail, of Wellington. The unsuccessful candidate was Mr M. A. MacKenzie. of Hawera.

Mr J. E. Farrell, of Oamaru, a South Island member of the executive who did not have to seek re-election, will become South Island vice-president of the conference on August 1. The vacancy caused by bis promotion is unlikely to be filled by the executive until after that date.
