A middle-aged pastrycook was sentenced in the Supreme Court today to two years’ gaol for wounding his 18-year-old niece with a shotgun with intent to cause grievous bodily harm He had earlier been found guilty by a jury of the charge. He is Ray Benjamin Hammington. aged 53. of Lower Hutt. He shot Judith Margaret Rogan, on November 18. Mr Justice Tompkins, passing sentence, said Hammingiton had come within an ace |of killing the girl.
