THREE SHIPS DELAYED

Congestion In U.K. Ports 1 . (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 4. Three ships with cargo for New Zealand have been delayed in British ports because of congestion, labour difficulties and slow presentation of cargo. The Federal Steam Navigation Company’s Northumberland, which was to have sailed from London on June 3. will not now sail until June 9. She is now due at Marsden Point on July 10 and in Auckland on July 13. The Somerset, also owned by the Federal Company, is delayed at Liverpool. She will now sail about June 14, a forn-ight late, and is expected in Auckland on July 14. The Customs Department has ruled that the cargo in the Somerset is not eligible for the 1964-65 import licensing period. The third ship delayed is the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Hauraki, which sailed from London on June 1. more than a week late. Her cargo will be included in the 1964-65 import licensing year.
