Street-Corner Campaigns
r.X’.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON. June 4. A call for more streetcorner election campaigning and less television campaigning was made in Parliament by Mr H. G. R. Mason (Opp., New Lynn) today.
"People are becoming so habituated to staying at home and watching television that they don't see their candidate in their area.” he said. Mr Mason was introducing a private member’s bill aimed at easing local by-laws so election candidates could hold street-corner campaigns.
The bill was given a first reading.
