51,291,898 Sheep
(Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, June 3. At the last official count, Canterbury still led New Zealand provinces in the number of sheep on its farms. Of a total sheep population of 51,291,898 at June 30, last year. Canterbury had 8.761,118, Wellington 8,200,984, South AucklandBay of Plenty 7,395,629, Southland 6.436,923, and Otago 6,243,312. There is as yet no indication of a North Island drift in the sheep population, which is almost evenly distributed between the two main islands. The North Island total is 27,782,126. and the South Islahd 23.509,772. The sheep returns were tabled in Parliament this afternoon.
