VEHICULAR ACCIDENTS
Judges Will Hear Claims (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 3. The New South Wales State Government will legislate to have judges, not juries, hear damages claims arising from vehicular accidents. The Premier (Mr R. W. Askin) said the Government aimed at giving swifter justice at a reasonable cost to litigants in civil proceedings. He said the new legislation would ensure shorter hearings, the elimination of court congestion and delay, and a imore uniform assessment of damages, so that parties could forecast, on a practical level, the damages likely to be recovered.
