Contract For Thiess Bros.

Thiess Bros., Pty., Ltd., has been awarded a £350,925 contract for part of the £lsm direct railway between the Moura coalfield and the port of Gladstone in Northern Queensland, the Queensland Minister for Transport (Mr Chalk) announced.
The company was the lowest bidder of three tenderers for the job, which is for major works on the eightmile Barney Point (Gladhas been awarded a stone) to the Byellee section of the 113-mile line.
Thiess-Peabody-Mitsui, the international combine which has the Moura field franchise for export of coal to Japan, is to contribute £7m of the cost of building the direct railway.
