BUILDING RAISED
Two Grenades Underneath
A Christchurch contractor “got a bit of a surprise” yesterday afternoon when a house at 33 Idris road was jacked off the ground and underneath it were two rusty hand-grenades, with ’the pins in, and two or three detonators.
Papanui police and the Army were told. The Army took the material to Burnham Military Camp yesterday afternoon where it was to be destroyed. An Army spokesman said the material could have been dangerous if it had been found by children.
