(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, May 28.
The Government should concentrate on production incentives in framing this year’s Budget, said the Wellington Chamber of Commerce in a statement today. The chamber said a great incentive would be reduction of company and personal taxation.
The Leader of the Social Credit Party (Mr V. F. Cracknell) said in a separate statement that the Government wanted increased production, but discouraged it by a credit squeeze. The Chamber of Commerce said the Government should aim at a balanced Budget before taking account of overseas’ borrowing. The proportion of expenditure covered by loan receilpts should be identical with 1964, it said. The chamber urged the removal of consumer subsidies a~d appropriate adjustment to pensions with a remission of Social Security tax on low incomes.
