C.O.R.S.O. APPEAL
All Churches Offer Help Ninety-five churches of all denominations in Christchurch and the suburbs will tomorrow provide 2750 collectors for C.0.R.5.0.’s house-to-house appeal for the Freedom from Hunger Campaign. Mr G. H. Coley, organiser for the Canterbury and Westland area of C.0.R.5.0., said yesterday the target for his area was £50,000. Last year, £42,000 was collected. 95 Zones
For tomorrow’s collection, Christchurch and its surrounding built-up areas have been divided into 95 zones of various sizes depending on the density of the housing. Churches of all denominations have undertaken to cover each zone. Mr Coley said the majority of collectors would be young people drawn from the churches’ bible class and youth groups. In country areas, collecting will be done with the help of the various country organisations, such as the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers, young farmers clubs and country girls’ institutes. They will be assisted by churches and, in some cases, by school pupils and teachers.
