Day With Forces
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter) BONN, May 26. The Queen will spend today inspecting British and Canadian military bases in West Germany, visiting Canadian Army and Air Force units at Soest, the R.A.F. station of Guetersloh, and the Sennelager base of the British Army of the Rhine.
in Cologne yesterday thousands of citizens who once shook their fists in hate at British bombers gave an enthusiastic welcome to their old enemy’s ruler. Cologne was devastated during the Second World War at one time by a 1000-bomber raid. Yesterday its people crowded bomb sites which still scar the city to give Queen Elizabeth the noisiest welcome so far of her state visit.
