PASSPORT REFUSED
N. Vietnam Visit
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright; CANBERRA, May 26.
The Australian Government has refused a passport to a citizen who would not give an undertaking in writing not to visit North Vietnam.
This follows the government's announcement yesterday that except in very special circumstances Australian passports would be en dorsed “not valid for North Vietnam.”
The passport has been refused to Mr Leslie Rose, who was recently elected by the Waterside Workers’ Federation to represent it at a meeting of the international trade union committee for solidarity with the workers and people of South Vietnam, to be held in Hanoi next month.
The government refused the passport for the express purpose of Mr Rose’s visit to North Vietnam, China and Hong Kong.
