WELLINGTON, May 25. With only two months remaining of the present season, greasy and scoured wool sold at auction has realised £21,762,910 less than for the corresponding period last year, according to the New Zealand Wool Commission. During the 10 months to the end of April 1, 1.148.645 bales of greasy wool (386.765,9271 b valued at £68,756,075 was sold at auction for an average of 42.67 d a lb. or £59 17s 2d a bale.
This compares with 1,153,383 bales (385,566,0631 b valued at £90,387,143, averaging 56.26 a lb and £7B 7s 4d a bale last year. Scoured wool sold at auction during the same period amounted to 23,469 bales (6.193,6281 b valued at £1,512,916 compared with 20.570 bales (5,337,0031 b worth £1,644,758. Scoured wool has averaged 58.62 d a lb, or £64 9s 3d a bale this season compared with last year’s 73.96 d a lb and £79 19s 2d a bale.
