Has Raised £1000 For Bombay Work
(N.Z. Press Association? AUCKLAND, May 6. More than £lOOO has so far been raised by Miss Diana Baiemi, the 28-year-old Hamilton woman who has founded an orphanage for povertystricken Indian children in Bombay, India. Miss Baiemi, who has “adopted” 11 Indian children under the age of six hopes to raise at least £lO,OOO to put the orphanage on a firm footing. An Auckland businessman, Mr H. Innes, and his wife will make a donation equal to the cost of keeping an Indian child for a year. Miss Baiemi, daughter of a retired farmer, met prominent members of the Auckland In-
dian community, the legal and medical professions, clergy and business people at the home of Dr. and Mrs A. M. Finlay last night. Dr. and Mrs Finlay will also sponsor a child for a year.
