CHURCHILL FUND
£206,000 Raised In N.Z. (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 7. The chairman of the Churchill Memorial Fund national organising committee, Mr B. E. Woodhams, of Hamilton, announced tonight the fund had reached £206,000. He said fixing the closing date at June 30 had received widespread support and he was pleased business communities in several towns and cities were organising subcommittees within their own organisations to obtain further donations. “The mathematics of the Churchill Memorial Fellowships are quite simple,” he said. “Every £40,000 received means one perpetual fellowship." The number of fellowships awarded depended entirely on the generosity of New Zealand people, Mr Woodhams said.
