100 YEARS OLD

Still Enjoys Reading (N.Z. Press Association/ HAMILTON, May 3. An old man whose health and memory are failing but who still retains and enjoys his life-long hobby of reading is Mr P. G. Allsop, of Hamilton, who is 100 today. He celebrated his birthday quietly at the home of his daughter, Mrs F. J. Mathers. Mr Allsop always noted any writing which appealed to him. and his collection of notes dates back about 60 years. His father lived to 96. and a brother and sister are both well into their 90s and in good health. Mr Allsdp has been in the Waikato Hospital for the last few months.

Mr Allsop was born in Birmingham, and came to New Zealand with his parents in 1885. He later went to America. His wife died in 1931. He has two sons and one daughter, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren-
