WATCH FOR FIRES
New Tower In Forest A 150 ft look-out tower for fire-watching is being built in the Eyrewell State Forest to replace two 90ft towers which are due for renewal. The new tower is of steel, and the old ones are of wood. It has already risen to 60ft, and will be open in time for the next fire season. When the tower is at Its full height, a wooden lookout cabin will be built on top, and radio will be installed. It will also have a telephone and be connected to the main power grid. Considerably higher than the old towers, the new structure will give a view of the forest, 15 miles long and four miles wide from the one point. One man will be stationed there, and living quarters are being built at the foot of the tower.
