Benefits Paid To Members More than £757 had been paid in sickness benefits and £720 in funeral benefits, members ot the national division of the Sons of Temperance Friendly Society were told at the sixty-sixth annaul conference in Christchurch on Saturday. Members had also been assisted in meeting medical expenses. Membership was slightly fewer than 400, the meeting was told. The society’s highest award, the past most worthy patriach's jewel, was presented to Mr D. A. Downs. Officers elected were: most worthy patriach, Sister G. Ewart; most worthy sentinel, Sister V. F. Kendall (Wanganui); most worthy trustees, Messrs E. J. Kiddey, F. W. Hitchings, and J. H. G. Shaw; superintendent, Mr E. A. Axelsen; past most worthy patriach and D. C., Mr D. A. Downs; past most Worthy patriarch, Mr N. Green; bylaws committee, Messrs W. Grenfell, L. W. Claridge and R. R. Kiddey; appeals committee, Messrs Claridge, James, Walker, Grenfell, and E. Taylor.
