N.Z. To Exhibit At Italian Fair

(New Zealand Press Association)

WELLINGTON, May 3.

New Zealand will take part in the International Levant Fair at Bari, Southern Italy, next September, the Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Marshall), said today.

“This venture follows the successful New Zealand displays in West Berlin and Amsterdam earlier this year,” he said. “In the last 10 years, New Zealand exhibits at European and British fairs have been devoted to the promotion of primary produce and food products.

“But it is expected increasing advantage will be taken of these opportunities to bring our manufactured goods to the attention of European buyers and the public,” said Mr Marshall. The Minister said at the West Berlin and Amsterdam fairs, New Zealand exhibited lambskin floor rugs, leather bags, milking machine ware, stainless steel tanks, clothing and veterinary products.

He said it was expected the display at Bari would include a jet boat, a golf practice net and an agricultural tractor.

“The Government believes the best results can be achieved at present by concentrating its exhibition efforts in Europe on those markets which have shown a developing ability to take our primary products,” he said.
