City Gifts Dwindle
The Christchurch target for the Winston Churchill memorial fund is £23,000; but on the latest receipts by the City Council it seems that it will not be realised. Contributions stand at £20,617 Ils 7d. Last Friday the council received £5. On the day before £2 2s was received. On the day before that receipts were only £1 ss. When the appeal opened it was agreed that donations of £5O and more would be acknowledged publicly. The last £5O gift in Christchurch was on April 21.
