Russley Pair Win Men’s Foursomes

J. R. Broadhurst and R. Berrill (Russley) won the Canterbury men’s foursomes at Waimairi yesterday with a score of 154, two less than W. I. Tucker and C. V. Stokes.

The winners had an 81 in the morning and lay about fifth but in the afternoon round they played some good golf. They were three over after 10 holes but then had an eagle three at the twelfth hole, followed it with a birdie, and then played steadily for a 73 Broadhurst hit his tee shots with good length and accuracy and Berrill gave him good support. Stokes and Tucker were not impressive. They scrambled to the greens but putted well. R. K. Atkinson and S. Cliff led the morning round with a score of 77 but could only return 81 in the afternoon.
