Adaptation Valued
By giving children the opportunity to learn to adapt themselves at an early age, the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association was doing a social work that was absolutely necessary, said the Mayor (Mr Manning) at the association’s recent annual meeting. “We are bringing our children into a changing world in which they will have some very severe problems to face,” he said. “The more help they are given in training to face them and in learning to adapt to changing conditions the better.” Background Kindergarten laid the foundations for helping them to take their place in society and for developing their full personalities. It was one of the most valuable backgrounds children could be given, he said. Mr Manning presided at
the meeting and congratulated the association on the contribution it was making to a “pool of assistance for children.”
