Burning And Dousing
Tree stumps and rubbish on City Council land off Ruru road were piled together and set on fire last Monday afternoon. The fire brigade was called out by a passer-by and put out the fire, which was unattended, later in the afternoon at the height of the southerly storm. Yesterday afternoon, the tree stumps, not near any buildings, were again set alight and were burning well. A fire officer noticed the fire, about 4 p.m. It was unattended. He gave the alarm, and firemen on two engines from Woolston put out the fire.
