AUTHORITY’S BIG LOSS

Transport In Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 29. The Auckland Regional Authority’s passenger transport division is expected to show a loss of £286,163 for the year ending March 31, 1966. This is £90,810, or 46.5 per cent, higher than the loss in the year just ended and the heaviest estimated loss in the history of the undertaking. The figures were in estimates approved by the authority tonight. The authority expects to spend £3,842,625 during the year, of which £1,705,754 will be recovered by levy from the 32 contributing local authorities. This is 32.6 per cent higher than last year’s levy. The transport division’s loss for the year ending March 31, £195,353, took the undertaking’s accumulated losses since 1951 to £1.6 million.
