NEW SQUASH COURTS
The shortage of squash racket courts and facilities in Christchurch, which has retarded the growth of the sport in Canterbury, should be temporarily alleviated now the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association has given permission for the erection of three courts at Wilding Park.
It is hoped to build the courts east of, and adjoining, the centre court memorial stand and changing room facilities will also be available to tennis players. Although there is as yet no firm guarantee of the £12,500 estimated for building costs, it is hoped that the courts will be ready for use at the beginning of 1966. The promotion committee should not encounter many difficulties in enrolling the 450 members envisaged.
