Avonhead Land Brings £15,550
Two blocks of land at 68 Hawthornden road, Avonhead, were sold for £15,550 when offered at public auction yesterday on account of the estate of Harold John Hockey by Mr Denys Chapman, who was acting in conjunction with Binns, Barber, and Keenan, Ltd.
Lot 1, comprising two acres, with an old house, brought £3050. The initial bid was £2400. There were four bids of £lOO and five of £5O. Lot 2, 16 acres of bare land, realised £12,500.
Bidding was brisk for this block. After the opening bid of £lO,OOO there were four bids of £250, 13 of £lOO, and four of £5O. A rough-cast house at 28 Lincoln road, Addington, was passed in at £2300. The house was offered on account of Mrs G. H. Hunsley by Mr G. H. Kissell.
The house has four rooms, kitchen, bathroom and laundry. There is also a garage on the secion of 40 perches.
