Our Fortune, a two-year-old colt by Flying Song from Shirleen, has been sold by his Invercargill owners, Messrs G. A. Thomas and R. A. Harper, to go to Melbourne. The Victorian studmaster, Mr R. A. Parker, who stafids the imported sire, Smart Set, was in Invercargill last weekend and bought Our Fortune on behalf of a Melbourne client. The colt was to have contested the Gore Two-year-old race, but was withdrawn from that event on Saturday. Our Fortune, which has left a good impression in juvenile trials this season, has had only one race appearance—in the Kindergarten Stakes at Wyndham on March 6. Our Fortune will leave by boat for Australia next month. Mr Parker also bought several brood mares in Canterbury, and they are due to arrive in Southland within the next few days. It is intended to mate them with New Zealand sires.
