MEGATON SOLD

Booked To Sail Megaton, a last-start winner at Methven on March 27, has been sold by her Riccarton owner, Mr B. Grice, to a Sydney owner. The sale was negotiated by National Mortgage and Agency Company, of New Zealand, Ltd. Megaton, a five-year-old mare by U. Scott from Solar, is a sister to a New Zealand Sapling Stakes winner in Jonboy Star. Her win at Methven was well overdue as earlier in the season she had raced most unluckily. Megaton will leave from Lyttelton today for Sydney. Also on the ship will be Raybob and Romantic Chief, which have been purchased by Mr J. R. Martin, of Sydney. Raybob is a three-year-old maiden trotter by Court Martial from Scornful. He was trained by A. J. Bourne at Woolston. Romantic Chief, a former member of R. W. Stockdale’s Yaldhurst team, is a three-year-old pacing colt by Meadow Chief from Romantic Lady. Transtar, a winner at Hutt Park in October from C. S. Donald’s stables, and Forward Boy, which was purchased recently by Mr H. E. Taylor, of Melbourne, were shipped to Australia earlier in the month. Winners In Sydney The Leeston-bred Hammerhead (Light Brigade—Romarin) won the Harold Park Easter Trotters’ Cup last Saturday. Starting second favourite at 7 to 2 he won by six yards from the 33 to 1 chance, Uncanny, from Victoria. Sonny Teal (Stormyway—Lady Teazle) finished third and the veteran Attract, fourth. Voice Derby, which started at 7 to 2, won the Lord Mayor’s Cup, a £5OOO race. He won by three yards from Lew’s Hope and Billabong Chief. Flaming Star (fourth), Golden Rule (fifth), Valcador (eighth), Tacloban (tenth), Medium Blue (eleventh) and Tarcoola (last) were New Zealand-bred horses in the race. New Zealand-bred horses did not have their usual success at Harold Park and placegetters were Scanglobe, Minover, and Stirling Hanover.
