NELSON PULP MILL

Still Much To Be Done (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, April 28. Although investigations have reached “an advanced stage’’ there is still a considerable amount of work to be done before plans for Nelson’s proposed pulp mill could be announced, said directors of Forest Investigations, Ltd., in a statement today. The statement, which is after yesterday’s meeting of directors in Auckland, also said that .investigations were expected to “extend over a considerable period of time yet.”

It was said that good progress had been made in the initial investigation into the possible use of the forest resources in the Nelson area. Committees drawn from experienced specialist representatives of the six member companies were carrying out the extensive technical and economic studies involved in such an investigation.

Considerable help was also being received from the Forest Research Institute at Rotorua, which was carrying out a comprehensive study of the wood resources in the area.
