DIABETIC SOCIETY

Slight Increase In Membership To conform with other diabetic societies, forming the Diabetic Association of New Zealand, Christchurch division changed its name to the Christchurch Diabetic Society, at the annual meeting. The president (Mr G. Harris) reported that as a result of a window display in the Canterbury Savings Bank 13 new members had joined the society. There had been a slight increase in membership but this was not as much as hoped for. Forty-four members had been transferred to the newly-formed Ashburton branch, and the deficiency had to be made up. Mr Harris said that the Diabetic Association's decision to establish a full time diabetic research fellowship would cost £2OOO a year. Officers elected were president. Mr E.
