JAYCEES’ QUEST

Three Young Men (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 28. A hunt for New Zealand's three outstanding young men is on. This project of Jaycees was officially launched by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) in Wellington tonight. The three young men now being sought will be leaders in their vocations and with a record of voluntary service to the community. They will be given special awards at the national jaycees conference in October. The award winners will be picked by a panel from locally chosen candidates nominated by various organisations. Mr Holyoake said similar projects were needed to remind the country that its real wealth was its youth. The impact of technological change, the battle of ideologies, the revolution in trading patterns, and the impact of the population explosion were the main challenges to young people today, he said. No doubt the young men chosen for awards would be those who showed marked ability to come to terms with these and other problems of their time.
