Good Progress In First Year
The first annual meeting of the South Christchurch Red Cross Sub-centre was held recently with a good attendance of members. The president, Mrs W. G. Cummins, reported that since the inauguration of the subcentre last August help had been given by members to the library service, meals on wheels, Cerebral Palsy School, cooking for meals on wheels and visiting Coronation Hospital.
Mrs R. I. Brake, president of North Canterbury Red Cross gave an interesting talk on the two projects for International Co-operation Year, the nursing scholarship fund and the Inchon hospital building fund. Officers elected were: president, Mrs W. G. Cummins; vice-president, Miss E. Lewton; secretary, Miss W. P. Crabbe; treasurer, Mrs M. G. Watson; committee, Mesdames J. Bradshaw, F. H. Heal, G. J. Lanyon, F. A. Ledgard, J. C. Nichols, S. S. Reynish, J. H. Taylor, H. J. Wagner, A. L. Wederell and Miss M. Price. •
