Ninth round matches in the lower grades of the Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions began on Saturday. Results were: SECOND GRADE A Marist 184 (K. Sheedy 37; Hadlee six for 67), Boys’ High School 88 for 3 (Anderson 35, Walter 35 not out). Christ’s College 155 (Gebbie 101; Newton three for 31, Spinks three for 32. Bishop three for 47), High School Old Boys 160 for eight (Trist 50. Bishop 43, Voice 37, Blakely four for 29). St. Albans 186 (Arnesan 65. Wear 32: Riddolls three for 37) met West-University 136 for nine (Nottage 33 not out; Todd three for 25, Harrison three for 33). Technical Old Boys 176 (Sibley 49, Harper 31; Walklin five for 29, Graham five for 44) met Lancaster Park 121 for four (Smith 49, Ell 39 not out). SECOND GRADE B Marist 54 (Kelman seven for 26) and 99 for four met St. Albans 106 for five (Harris 51, Penlington 38; Woodlock four for 16). East-Shirley 56 (Reeves five for 21) and 29 for two met Burnside 76 (Shewan four for 13, Ryder six for 37). Sydenham 244 (Wilson 49. Harliwich 46, Thomas 31 not out, Moorhead 30; Macbeth five for 50, Gibson three for 30) met Old Collegians 44 for two. SECOND GRADE C High School Old Boys 152 for seven declared (Cocks 47, Norman 42; Sugden three for 37) met West-University A 142 (Mills 39; Anderson three for 2, Reid six for 48). Riccarton 206 (Kenworthy 42. Hean 41, Moore 35; Gourley five for 45) met Lancaster Park 87 for one. St. Albans-Teachers’ College 197 (Law 48, Simpkin 39, Bruce 33: Guthrey four for 60) met Old Collegians 51 for 5 (Richardson four for 13). PRESIDENTS GRADE Marist -222/5 declared (Thoms 70, Hailes 44 not out. O’Brien 34 not out) beat Sydenham 177 (Thomas 67; Hailes 4, 63) on the first innings. Old Collegians 201/6 (Tocker 80, Sheppard 61; Smith 3'41) beat East-Shirley 198/4 declared <Adam 77 not out) on the first innings. St. Albans 192 (Knowles 64, Arblaster 45, Collins 40; Templeton 5/25, Small 4/64) beat High School Old Boys 131 (Jones 67: Tucker 7/42) on the first innings. West-University B 110/3 (Goold 38 not out) beat West-University A 106 (McLellan 46; Gafhkin 3/16.
