AUST. WINS SHOOTING

N.Z. Loses By 16 Points (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 21. The Australian rifle team beat New Zealand by 16 points at Trentham today, to win the Em pire Challenge Trophy. Two Australians, F. McDermott and J. W. Sweet, emerged as the top shots of the day with IS6 and ISS respectively. Last year’s New Zealand champion, J. T. Petersen, was next with 184. Sweet, a Queen's Prize winner, scored the only possible of the day. a 50 on the 900-yard range. The teams for today’s shoot were: Australia.—F. McDermott. C. B. Hepworth, R. J. Rush, J. W. Sweet, F. Jeune (Gisborne), D. J. Caughley (Mas terton-Opaki), N. C. Petersen (Levin), I. R. Ballinger (Christ church). Scores, out of a possible 400. were:— 300 Yards —New Zealand 376 (Tirom 40, J.
