The Road Toll
Sir, —D. Brown seems to think that his way of summing up this situation is proved by book data rather than by actual facts. I consider that being a driver for 43 years and having investigated some of these ■ socalled accidents and picked up injured and killed from the roads, that these facts should show the position surely. As stated previously, I have driven cars on bad roads and different towns where some of these fast drivers would not drive fast for very long. As stated by “In
The Seventies” and ‘‘Old Timer,” this slaughter is likely to continue till some transport Minister is able to make some worthwhile suggestions to combat it, and that won’t be by the insulting position of re-testing aged, competent, and sensible drivers. I hope some of these fast drivers will give a second thought before endangering perhaps the lives of some of their loved ones. —Yours, etc., SAFETY FIRST. February 18, 1965.
