New Brighton Zoning
Sir,—Withells Island is more suitable for motels than for light industry as the former would attract tourists and bring money to the shops while light industry would mostly use labour already employed by them. The existing tourist accommodation at New Brighton is hopelessly inadequate for a seaside resort with fine beaches, at and near it. Saturday trading was all right until big city stores which are open in the city all the week, appeared to wrest a lion’s share of the profits.—Yours, etc., INTERESTED. February 19, 1965.
