DEFICIT FEARED

It was disturbing to find that expenditure from the revenue account had increased substantially above the revenue received for the nine months ended December 31, 1964, the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nordmeyer) said today. “It would appear that Budget estimates of both items have been seriously astray. “Unless revenue during the current quarter is substantially higher than during the same quarter last year, the Government will finish another year with a deficit “No doubt it will follow the same practice as in the last two years—load the deficit on to future generations by borrowing and increasing the debt burden,” he said.
Hurt At Pool.—A schoolboy, Evan Stewart, of 58 Clyde road, suffered minor head injuries when he slipped at the lido pool in Jellie Park yesterday afternoon. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged.
