CAUGHT IN RIP
Quick Action Saves Girl
Quick action by Mrs Marie Tissiman, of Lyttelton, saved an eight-year-old girl from being swept out to sea by the rip at Scarborough last weekend. The child was struggling in the rip beyond the Sumner Lifeboat shed after having been swept for some distance. Mrs Tissiman and her son-in-law, Mr K. Brennan, of Lyttelton, saw her plight and went into deep water to her rescue. They used the rip to advantage and were able to bear in towards the rocky foreshore with the child.
