Quiz Kid Returns
Mrs Young was educated at St. Mary’s College, Auckland, and in 1954 topped the New Zealand University scholarship list. She gained her M.A. degree at Auckland University with first-class honours in Latin and Greek.
AUCKLAND, Dec. 29. A former quiz kid, Carmel Lorrigan, now Mrs Carmel Young, known to New Zealand radio listeners for her ready answers in the “Quiz Kids” programme 10 years ago, is back in Auckland visiting her mother, Mrs M. E. Lorrigan, of Mt. Roskill. Her home is now in Adelaide, where she and her husband both lecture on the staff of the university. She still finds time to care for her three children, aged four years, two and one. Since her stint as a quiz kid, she married, travelled to England, where she gained her bachelor of philosophy degree at Oxford University, and tutored at Oxford. Her husband graduated bachelor of arts at Oxford at the same time.
